IWU Women's Soccer, Huntington Play to Scoreless Draw

Box Score

HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- There was 110 minutes of women's soccer action Saturday without a goal being scored by either Indiana Wesleyan University or host Huntington (Ind.) University.

The Mid-Central College Conference rivals played to a 0-0 draw after regulation and two overtime periods.

"It was a real hot day today," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "We just didn't quite get it done."

Indiana Wesleyan is 6-6-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in MCC play. The tie was the second this week for Huntington as they now stand 8-2-3 overall and 2-0-2 in conference action. Both teams received votes in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll.

Indiana Wesleyan nearly pulled out the road victory late in the match.

"We missed a good chance," said Bratcher. "Kelsey (Johnston) hit one that hit the crossbar. She beat the keeper and just hit it too high with less than a minute to go."

Indiana Wesleyan will play their third straight road game as they travel to University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday, October 11. The match begins at 4 p.m. in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
