Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Junior forward Kylie Dial stole the show Tuesday night as Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer celebrated Senior Night with a 4-0 shutout of visiting Goshen (Ind.) College at Wildcat Field.
Dial scored three times and assisted on the other goal for a seven point effort as Indiana Wesleyan won their third straight match.
The victory caps off a great finish to the regular season for IWU. The win catapults Indiana Wesleyan into sixth place in the Mid-Central College Conference after bringing in the maximum nine points in its last three matches. IWU learned after the victory that they will travel to No. 3-seed Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University in the MCC Tournament First Round.
Dial scored the contest's first goal of the night in the 12th minute. Freshman Tracey Tiernon dribbled past two defenders and found Dial all alone in the 6-yard box for the easy score.
Dial followed with an assist in the 37th minute after she beat the Goshen (5-13-0, 1-8-0 MCC) defense. She passed the ball to an open Kelsey Johnston for the 2-0 lead. In the 42nd minute, Indiana Wesleyan grabbed a 3-0 lead after freshman Annette Somercik created a turnover deep in the Goshen box. She tapped the ball back to Dial who was all alone for the score.
The lone second half goal came in the game's 55th minute. Johnston played the ball over the top of the Maple Leaf defense where Dial collected the ball and found herself all alone with the keeper for an easy goal and a 4-0 advantage.
Sophomore Rachel Fulkerson earned three saves in net for the shutout victory. Indiana Wesleyan outshot Goshen 15-8 on the night and held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Indiana Wesleyan (9-8-1, 4-4-1 MCC) will return to action on Saturday, October 29 in the MCC Tournament First Round at Mount Vernon Nazarene.
