Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball won its seventh straight after defeating host Spring Arbor (Mich.) University 77-47 on Saturday afternoon in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
The victory moves Indiana Wesleyan to 5-0 in the Mid-Central College Conference as IWU remains the lone unbeaten in conference play.
The Wildcats shot over 50-percent for the game, led by junior center Krystal Stoneking at 7-of-12 from the floor for a total of 18 points. She was also 4-of-5 from the foul line and pulled down five rebounds.
Joining Stoneking in double figures was senior forward Elaine Hessel and sophomore forward Paige Smith. Hessel continues to scorch opponents at a high clip as she finished 6-of-7 for 12 points and is now shooting over 66-percent for the season. Smith gained her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards off the Wildcat bench.
Indiana Wesleyan (16-2) did not trail the entire game for the second time in three days. IWU raced out to a 10-4 lead at Spring Arbor and built a commanding 36-19 advantage by halftime.
The Wildcats took good care of the ball on Saturday and dished out 18 assists while committing just 11 turnovers. Senior guard Kayla Thompson passed out seven assists for the third time this season.
Indiana Wesleyan continues to showcase its strong bench as it outscored Spring Arbor's bench by a 47-23 advantage. Smith and Stoneking were assisted by sophomore forward Lyzz Smith with nine and by sophomore guard Taylor Goshert with five to lead the bench unit.
Spring Arbor drops to 8-11 this season and 2-4 in MCC play.
The Wildcats return home for their next contest which will be against MCC rival University of Saint Francis (Ind.). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11 in Luckey Arena. Saint Francis is second in the conference with a 4-1 record.
