Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- The Mid-Central College Conference volleyball season opened tonight and Indiana Wesleyan University lost 3-1 to Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
The Wildcats dropped a tight four set match by scores of 30-32, 19-25, 25-13 and 24-26.
IWU freshman outside hitter Rae Brandes recorded a double-double on the night. She led the team with 18 kills and 17 digs.
Junior defensive specialist/setter Kelsey Masuda earned a team-high 41 assists and junior middle hitter served six aces. Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Atwell led Indiana Wesleyan with two solo blocks and one block assist on the night.
The Wildcats overall record is now even at 3-3 and drop to 0-1 in the conference. Spring Arbor improves to 2-6 on the year and 1-0 in the MCC.
Indiana Wesleyan will host a pair of MCC matches this weekend at Luckey Arena. IWU will play host to No. 9-ranked Taylor (Ind.) University at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 10 and then Huntington (Ind.) University at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.
