Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- A late first half goal was all that was needed for William Carey (Miss.) University in a 1-0 victory over Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer in the Lady Flames Classic in Cleveland, Tennessee.
The top-10 showdown featured No. 4-ranked Indiana Wesleyan and No. 10-ranked William Carey. IWU falls to 4-2-0 on the season while William Carey improves to 5-1-2.
William Carey's Kristen Satcher received a through ball and beat Indiana Wesleyan keeper Jamie Speidel from inside eight yards in the 44th minute of play. The goal stood as the only score of the night.
Indiana Wesleyan outshot William Carey 8-7 in the opening half but an 11-3 advantage in the second half gave William Carey the 18-11 advantage overall. Speidel collected seven saves on the evening playing all 90 minutes for IWU.
The Wildcats were able to pressure the Crusader defense much of the night and earned nine corner kicks. IWU finished the match with six shots on goal.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21 as the Wildcats travel to play at Cedarville (Ohio) University.
