Box Score MARION, Ind. -- A dominating 3-0 performance Saturday evening led to the first Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball win in the Mid-Central College Conference over visiting Huntington (Ind.) University at Luckey Arena.
The Wildcats pulled out the three set victory by scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-11.
All 13 Wildcats played on Saturday and nine recorded kills. Freshman outside hitter Rae Brandes led the team with 11 kills and freshman middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht earned nine kills with a .571 hitting percentage.
Sophomore setter Yui Iwase had 32 assists and sophomore outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush totaled seven digs. Junior middle hitter Lauryn Barfell led all players with three blocks.
Indiana Wesleyan evens their record at 4-4 on the season and now stands 1-2 in the MCC. Huntington falls to 1-10 and 0-3 in the conference.
The Wildcats will next play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15 at IU-East in Richmond, Indiana. IU-East is receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll. IWU returns to Luckey next weekend when the Wildcats host the Best Western Wildcat Classic on September 17-18.
