Box Score LAKEVILLE, Ind. -- Abbie Forman threw a one-hit shutout as Indiana Wesleyan University triumphed 1-0 over Taylor (Ind.) University in the Mid-Central College Conference Softball Tournament opener for both teams on Tuesday at Lakeville, Indiana.
Forman did not allow a hit until the sixth inning and finished with nine strikeouts in seven innings of work. She also helped herself out at the plate with a base hit and a stolen base.
Indiana Wesleyan scratched across the lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Catcher Christy Gibson singled with one out and advanced to second on a sac bunt by shortstop Katie Berkemeier. Centerfielder Tamara Davis followed with a single to score Gibson. Davis finished the game as the only player with multiple hits with two.
The Wildcats outhit the Trojans 6-to-1 in the game although the teams combined to leave 13 runners on base, seven for the Wildcats and six for the Trojans.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play No. 2-seed Bethel (Ind.) College at 2 p.m. today.
