Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team had no troubles in their first game of the NCCAA National Championship being held in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The No. 3-seeded Wildcats opened the eight team, double elimination tournament with a 6-0 blanking of No. 6-seed Judson (Ill.) University, a team that had beaten IWU earlier in the season.
Starting pitcher Katie Hall dominated the Eagles in a complete game shutout. She scattered six hits and struck out 10 batters.
Catcher Molly Yothment led the offensive attack with a 2-for-3 performance and three RBI. Centerfielder Tamara Davis scored two of the six Wildcat runs.
Marion High School product and freshman on Indiana Wesleyan had a big day while playing third base. She doubled her total hits on the season going 2-for-3 with a double.
Indiana Wesleyan advances in the tournament to battle No. 2-seed Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University. That game will be played at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 14.
