Box Score 2 CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball traveled to Cedarville (Ohio) University on Thursday and swept a doubleheader from the host.
The Wildcats opened the day with a 6-2 victory and finished with a 10-0 blowout.
Junior Nicole Clark was the winning pitcher in game one and senior Melissa Kimmel jacked a home run to lead Indiana Wesleyan. Clark allowed a single hit to Cedarville in six innings of work and she struck out six Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore Kelsey Decker contributed a two hit game while senior Christy Gibson, senior Katie Berkemeier, sophomore Tamara Davis and sophomore Abbie Forman all wrapped out base hits in the winning cause.
Indiana Wesleyan scored a pair of runs in the first inning and three more in the second inning in game two as IWU rolled to the 10-0 victory.
The Wildcats received its second strong pitching performance on the day as Forman earned the win. She allowed one hit in five innings and struck out five, walking none. Sophomore Erin Moeller finished the final two innings and allowed one hit.
Senior Molly Yothment was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Davis finished 2-for-4 with a RBI, run scored and a stolen base while Moeller was 1-for-1 with two RBI. Berkemeier crossed the plate twice as IWU outhit Cedarville 8-to-2.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 9-7 this season while Cedarville tumbles to 4-11.
The Wildcats return to the diamond this weekend with the IWU Tournament at Wildcat Field. Games will be at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday with the Wildcats playing the final two games.
