Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Sophomore forward Kylie Dial recorded a hat trick in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament semifinals as the top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team beat Huntington (Ind.) University 3-0 at Wildcat Field.
Indiana Wesleyan has won three consecutive MCC Tournament championships and will seek a fourth straight next Saturday for the conference's automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship. IWU will play host to No. 2-seed Spring Arbor (Mich.) University, who beat Taylor (Ind.) University 6-0 in the other semifinal.
Dial scored in the fourth minute for the early 1-0 lead off an assist from senior midfielder Brittany Horswell. That goal proved to be the game-winner.
Although Indiana Wesleyan dominated the first half, outshooting Huntington 12-3, Huntington was able to hang around and trail by just one at halftime.
In the 59th minute, Dial added insurance for the Wildcats with her second goal, a header from a cross by senior midfielder Megan Marshall. Dial completed the hat trick in the 88th minute with a beautiful shot to the far post to clinch the win and the spot in the tournament finals.
Indiana Wesleyan outshot Huntington 21-9 on the night and put nine on goal, compared to just two for Huntington. Sophomore goalkeeper Beth Anne Nowak earned the shutout for Indiana Wesleyan with two saves.
No. 5-ranked Indiana Wesleyan has now won 13 straight matches to improve to 17-2-0 on the season while Huntington drops to 10-9-1.
The MCC Tournament championship will be contested between the top two seeds in the tournament, Indiana Wesleyan and Spring Arbor, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 13 at Wildcat Field.
