Box Score MARION, Ind. -- On the strength of a five game win streak, Indiana Wesleyan University improved five spots in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top-25 Poll.
The Wildcats chimed in at No. 19 in the first edition of the ranking after a No. 24-ranking in the preseason poll which was released back in October.
Indiana Wesleyan opened the season slowly with a 3-3 record, but a current five game win streak has Indiana Wesleyan rolling with an 8-3 mark as IWU prepares for a pair of Mid-Central College Conference games this week.
Walsh (Ohio) University took claim of the No. 1 spot in the poll with 12-of-16 first place votes for 431 points. Oklahoma Wesleyan University is second with three first place votes and 409 points while Cornerstone (Mich.) University was voted third with the final first place vote and 407 points.
Indiana Wesleyan is one of four MCC programs ranked among the nation's top-25 teams this week. University of Saint Francis (Ind.) is seventh with 346 points, Grace (Ind.) College is 15th at 234 points, Indiana Wesleyan 19th with 169 points and Huntington (Ind.) University cracked the poll with a ranking of 23rd with 106 points.
The Wildcats opened MCC play last Tuesday with a 67-66 victory over Taylor (Ind.) University and then beat a pair of NAIA Division I opponents over the weekend, including No. 17-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) University78-76.
IWU will play tonight at Goshen (Ind.) College with a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Wildcats will then battle Bethel (Ind.) College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
