Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball collected an impressive 70-65 victory at No. 14-ranked Cedarville (Ohio) University Friday night at the Cedarville Classic.
Indiana Wesleyan overcame a three point deficit at the half (35-32) to outscore Cedarville 38-30 in the second half for the win.
The No. 24-ranked Wildcats showcased a strong defensive effort on the Yellow Jackets by holding the host to 41.5-percent (27 of 65) shooting. Offensively, the Wildcats were led in scoring by senior forward Will Hubertz, sophomore forward Patrick Hopkins and freshman guard Jordan Weidner.
Hubertz scored 18 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. He hit on 4-of-11 shots from beyond the arc. Hopkins contributed 16 points and eight rebounds, including three offensive boards. IWU finished the contest with 12 offensive rebounds. Weidner hit 4-of-7 shots for 13 points while pulling down six boards.
Junior guard Derrick Troyer dished out four assists and Indiana Wesleyan committed just 10 turnovers in the win.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 4-3 on the season and Cedarville falls to 2-2. Cedarville's only other loss came to NCAA Division II No. 3-ranked University of Findlay (Ohio).
Indiana Wesleyan will finish the Cedarville Classic on Saturday with a 6 p.m. tip-off versus Shawnee State (Ohio) University.
