Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Junior forward Krystal Stoneking poured in a career-high 25 points in leading No. 3-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball to a 50-45 win at No. 20-ranked IU-Southeast in New Albany, Indiana.
Stoneking was 9-of-12 from the field and accounted for over half of the Indiana Wesleyan field goals on the night. She also sank 7-of-8 free throws. Her previous career-high was 17 points on February 3, 2010 at Huntington (Ind.) University.
On a night when Indiana Wesleyan struggled offensively, the Wildcats took advantage of free throw opportunities to overcome their second straight ranked opponent on the road. As both teams struggled from the field with 17 field goals apiece, IWU was able to compensate their shooting woes with 14-of-20 (70.0-percent) from the free throw line to just 5-of-14 (35.7-percent) for IUSE.
Senior forward Elaine Hessel, the reigning Mid-Central College Conference Player of the Week, added seven points and six boards while junior guard Rachel Steinbarger contributed six points and a team-leading seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Taylor Goshert grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists.
The Wildcats improve to 4-0 on the season while the Grenadiers fall to 1-3.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action this weekend at the MCC/WHAC Challenge on Friday and Saturday in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
