Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A big second half for No. 4-ranked Cornerstone (Mich.) University was enough to down Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball 87-66 Saturday afternoon in the MCC/WHAC Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
With Cornerstone leading by four at the half, the Golden Eagles outscored the Wildcats 52-35 for the 21-point victory.
Indiana Wesleyan struggled offensively and finished the contest at 40.8-percent (20 of 49) shooting and just 12.5-percent (2 of 16) from 3-point land. But Cornerstone had no issues on the offensive end as CU shot 51.9-percent (27 of 52) and 58.8-percent (10 of 17) from beyond the arc.
Only one Wildcat hit double figures in the scoring column. Senior forward Will Hubertz led the team with 12 points. Sophomore guard Aaron Martin, freshman guard Jeff Hoskins and freshman guard Jordan Weidner all contributed nine points. Sophomore forward Patrick Hopkins added eight points and 10 rebounds.
The Wildcats fall to 3-3 this season while the Golden Eagles up their record to 3-0.
Indiana Wesleyan will return to the court next weekend at the Cedarville Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio. IWU will play host Cedarville on Friday, November 19 and then Shawnee State (Ohio) University on Saturday, November 20.
