Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball came out on the short end of a game that featured four lead changes in the final 20 seconds of play Friday night at the MCC/WHAC Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Host Aquinas (Mich.) College collected the 64-63 win when forward Zach Eddy beat the clock with a two point basket.
Indiana Wesleyan trailed the entire contest until a bucket by junior guard Derrick Troyer gave IWU its first lead of 61-60 with 17 seconds remaining. But with eight seconds left, Troyer fouled Aquinas guard Damacious White, who sank both free throws as Aquinas recaptured the advantage at 62-61.
The Wildcats raced down the court and sophomore forward Patrick Hopkins scored in the paint to give IWU a 63-62 lead with only three seconds remaining, leading to the Eddy heroics for Aquinas.
Indiana Wesleyan was led in scoring by senior forward Will Hubertz with 15 points. Sophomore guard George Jones IV added 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench while Hopkins contributed 12 points in a starting role.
Aquinas earns their first win of the season and is now 1-2 on the year while Indiana Wesleyan drops to 3-2.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against No. 4-ranked Cornerstone (Mich.) University in the MCC/WHAC Challenge.
