Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- With their biggest scoring output of the season on Friday night the Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team ran their win streak to eight matches with an 8-0 eruption over host Bethel (Ind.) College in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Senior forward Megan Marshall led the way with a hat trick and two assists as five different Wildcats put the ball in the net Friday evening.
Also tallying goals at Bethel were sophomore forward Kylie Dial, senior midfielder Brittany Smith, freshman midfielder Natalie Haskins and sophomore forward Kelsey Johnston, who had a pair.
No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan overwhelmed Bethel in the opening half to claim a 5-0 lead. IWU outshot the hosts 15-2 with nine shots on target. In all, Indiana Wesleyan tallied 15 shots on goal in 22 total shots.
Three Wildcats combined for the shutout in net. Sophomore Beth Anne Nowak earned the victory as she made three saves in nearly 78 minutes of action. Sophomore Jamie Speidel and freshman Rachel Fulkerson preserved the shutout in the final 12 minutes. The trio of goalkeepers made five saves on the night, all in the second half.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 12-2-0 on the year and 5-0-0 in the Mid-Central College Conference. Bethel drops to 3-11-0 overall and 2-4-0 in conference action.
IWU will return to the pitch at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20 as the Wildcats host Grant County rival Taylor (Ind.) University at Wildcat Field.
