Box Score MARION, Ind. (Box Score) -- The home opener for the No. 17-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team was a success as the Wildcats evened their record in a 4-0 romp over Cedarville (Ohio) University on Tuesday evening at Wildcat Field.
Freshman forward Kelsey Johnston found the back of the net on two occasions Tuesday night for her first collegiate goals to pace the Indiana Wesleyan attack, including the game-winner. Another Wildcat freshman forward, Kylie Dial, also scored her first collegiate goal while sophomore midfielder Tori Lee added her first goal of the season.
Following a hard-fought 1-0 loss at then No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College last week, Indiana Wesleyan (1-1-0) controlled the match against Cedarville (1-3-0) from the opening kickoff. The Yellow Jackets could only muster two shots on goal against the stringent Wildcat defense.
IWU freshman goalkeeper Beth Anne Nowak collected her first collegiate victory in net. Nowak needed to make one save in 73 minutes for the combined shutout with junior Michaela Pride, who ended with two saves.
The Wildcat outshot the Yellow Jackets 12-5 on the night and held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Indiana Wesleyan remains at home over the weekend as the Wildcats host Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University on Friday, September 11 and Asbury (Ky.) College on Saturday, September 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Field on both nights.
