Box Score 2 GOSHEN, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University and Goshen (Ind.) College split a Mid-Central College Conference softball doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Goshen, Indiana.
The Wildcats won an offensive battle 9-6 in the opening contest while the Maple Leafs earned the split with a 4-3 win in game two.
Third baseman Kate Berkemeier was 4-for-5 at the dish with a pair of doubles while Katie Brummett went 4-for-4 with a double to lead the Wildcat offense. Shortstop Morgan Wheeler, centerfielder Tamara Davis and catcher Molly Yothment all contributed two hits in the win.
Indiana Wesleyan out-hit Goshen by a 16-to-7 margin.
The Wildcats continued to swing the bats well in the nightcap as IWU once again held the advantage in hits at 7-to-4. But three of the four Maple Leaf hits left the yard for the 4-3 Goshen victory.
Second baseman Christy Gibson led the team with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with a double.
Indiana Wesleyan will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 as the Wildcats host Huntington (Ind.) University.
