Box Score 2 UPLAND, Ind. (Box 1, Box 2) -- Indiana Wesleyan University and Taylor (Ind.) University split a Mid-Central College Conference softball doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Trojans (14-22, 4-12 MCC) earned a 6-0 victory in the opening contest while the Wildcats earned a split with an 8-0 win in a five inning run rule.
In the opening game, Taylor out-hit Indiana Wesleyan 8-4 en route to the victory. Taylor plated a pair of runs in the first and pulled away with four runs in the fourth inning.
First baseman Abbie Forman and second baseman Christy Gibson each went 1-for-3 with a double for IWU.
The nightcap was dominated by Indiana Wesleyan (29-14, 8-8 MCC), mainly by starting pitcher Abbie Forman who threw her first no-hitter. She went all five innings, walking one and striking out one batter.
Third baseman Katie Berkemeier tallied three hits, including a double, with a run scored and one RBI. Shortstop Morgan Wheeler finished 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Catcher Molly Yothment had a 2-for-3 performance with a double and a pair of RBIs.
Indiana Wesleyan will now start post season play. The Wildcats will compete in the NCCAA Midwest Regional Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Grace (Ind.) College in Winona Lake, Indiana.
