MARION, Ind. (HU Box, GC Box) -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball allowed just two hits in two games on Saturday as the Wildcats went unbeaten in four games during the IWU Tournament this weekend.
After a pair of shutouts on Friday, Indiana Wesleyan earned a pair of 10-0, five inning victories on Saturday in non-conference games with Huntington (Ind.) University and Goshen (Ind.) College.
Indiana Wesleyan has now played five straight games without allowing a run.
In the opening game of the day, the Wildcats crushed Huntington 10-0 behind a no-hit performance from starting pitcher Nicole Clark. She pitched all five innings and allowed just two walks while striking out five Foresters.
The no-hitter is the second of the season for Clark. She allowed no hits in a 1-0 victory over Marian (Ind.) College. The only two Knights to reach base in that game were on errors.
The Indiana Wesleyan offense was just as sharp as Clark as the Wildcats collected 12 hits in five innings. Five different batters had two-hit games.
Centerfielder Tamara Davis and first baseman Abbie Forman each had two hits with two RBI and one run scored. Shortstop Morgan Wheeler and third baseman Katie Berkemeier were both 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Designated player Katie Brummett ended the game 2-for-3 and catcher Molly Yothment connected on a three-run home run.
The second game on Saturday finished just like the first, a 10-0 Wildcat win in five innings. Forman dominated with a two-hit performance for Indiana Wesleyan. She walked one and struck out six Goshen batters.
Davis had a huge game at the plate for IWU. She was 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored. Berkemeier was also 3-for-4 and scored three runs for the second time on Saturday.
Catcher Christy Gibson and leftfielder Kelsey Decker both went 2-for-3 with one run scored. Decker also knocked in a RBI. Yothment was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
The Wildcats out-hit the Maple Leafs 12-2 and scored in four of the five innings.
