Box Score 2 ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University had no troubles Friday afternoon in a softball doubleheader sweep at Siena Heights University in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Wildcats won the first game 5-0 and cruised to a 12-1 victory in the second contest.
Starting pitcher Abbie Forman was dominant in the opener. She allowed just two hits in five innings while striking out 10 batters. Erin Moeller finished the final two innings and allowed one hit and struck out two.
Indiana Wesleyan dented the scoreboard in the third inning with four runs. IWU added the final run in the sixth for the shutout victory.
Forman helped herself out at the plate with a two-run home run. Third baseman Katie Berkemeier contributed a 3-for-4 performance with a double and two runs scored. Designated player Katie Brummett added a pair of hits in the game as Indiana Wesleyan out-hit Siena Heights 11-3.
Indiana Wesleyan was even more dominant in the nightcap with a 12-1 win in a shortened five inning game. IWU scored in four of the five innings.
The Wildcats plated three runs in the first and added two more in the second. Siena Heights scored their lone run of the day in the third before the Wildcats blew the game open with a four run fourth and three run fifth.
Nicole Clark and Kate Hall combined for a four hit performance on mound for Indiana Wesleyan. Clark pitched the first three innings and allowed one run on two hits. Hall scattered two hits over the final two innings as the pair combined for eight strikeouts and no walks.
Forman once again had a big game at the dish as she reached base in all four at bats. She was 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs, three runs and two walks. Shortstop Morgan Wheeler was 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored.
Centerfielder Tamara Davis, catcher Molly Yothment and left fielder Kelsey Decker all collected two RBIs in the win.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 18-7 on the season while Siena Heights drops to 9-17.
The Wildcats will play again tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in Mid-Central College Conference action.
