Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- Grace (Ind.) College was unable to slow down the Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball team on Wednesday night as the Wildcats earned a 72-55 road victory.
Five Wildcats scored in double figures as the team shot 60.0-percent (30 of 50) from the floor. IWU dished out 23 assists as the Wildcats were able to move the ball around the court as six players earned two or more assists.
Sophomore forward Elaine Hessel, the reigning NAIA Division II Player of the Week, scored a game-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. She also grabbed a team-best five boards.
Sophomore guard Kayla Thompson handed out seven assists as well as putting in 10 points. Freshman center Krystal Stoneking chipped in with 12 points and sophomore forward LeAnn Douglas and freshman guard Rachel Steinbarger each added 11 points.
Indiana Wesleyan was just as dominant on the defensive side, holding Grace (8-22, 3-13 MCC) to 37.3-percent (19 of 51) shooting. IWU also forced 14 Lancer turnovers.
Indiana Wesleyan (21-8, 10-5 MCC) completes the 2008-09 regular season at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 as the Wildcats travel across Grant County for a showdown with Taylor (Ind.) University. Both teams will enter the contest at 10-5 in the MCC with the winner capturing third place.
