Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University dropped their second game of the MCC/WHAC Challenge on Saturday afternoon to No. 16-ranked Aquinas (Mich.) College by a score of 55-51.
Aquinas (8-3) hit on 6-of-8 free throws in the final minute to deflect the late Indiana Wesleyan run.
With less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, Aquinas held a nine point lead at 41-32. But Indiana Wesleyan was able to cut the deficit to three points at 49-46 with 1:19 and had possession of the ball.
Indiana Wesleyan (10-2) would get no closer as the possession ended in an offensive foul call on IWU junior forward Elaine Hessel. IWU held the ball with less than 30 seconds to play and down 55-51, but never scored as the game came to a close.
Junior guard Kayla Thompson led all players with 19 points. Hessel added 11 while junior forward LeAnn Douglas chipped in 10 points. Sophomore center Krystal Stoneking ended the afternoon with seven points and six rebounds.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play in the Campbellsville University Tournament on December 18-19 in Campbellsville, Kentucky. IWU plays at 6 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
