Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. (Box Score) -- Junior midfielder Mitch Lobdell headed home the game-winning goal in the 86th minute as Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer defeated host Goshen (Ind.) College 1-0 to advance to the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament championship match.
The late goal began with a Maple Leaf foul. Sophomore defender Ross Tanzer took the free kick which found the head of Lobdell who beat the Maple Leaf keeper for the lone score.
It was an evenly played match as Goshen held a 9-6 advantage in total shots. Both teams were able to get three shots on goal.
IWU senior goalkeeper Spenser Lang collected three saves in the shutout victory. Lang now has four shutouts this season and has been involved in six total shutouts.
Indiana Wesleyan advances to the MCC championship match which will be held next Saturday, November 14. IWU will play the winner of No. 1-seed Bethel (Ind.) College and No. 5-seed Taylor (Ind.) University. Indiana Wesleyan has now made the conference tournament finals three straight seasons.
The No. 3-seed Wildcats improve to 8-10-1 while the No. 2-seed Maple Leafs drop to 12-7-1.
