Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Ten Wildcats scored as the Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball team cruised to a 67-48 victory over visiting Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon in Luckey Arena.
No. 14-ranked Indiana Wesleyan dominated Indiana Tech in the opening half which allowed 12 Wildcats to record at least six minutes of action in the game and 13 players scored a point or pulled down a rebound in the decisive victory.
The Wildcats outscored the Warriors 44-15 in the first 20 minutes as IWU shot a blistering 65.4-percent (17 of 26) from the field and 60.0-percent (6 of 10) from beyond the arc. The Warriors were limited to just 15 points as they were held to 25.-0-percent (6 of 24) shooting.
IWU junior forward Elaine Hessel once again led the team in scoring with 15 points in less than 28 minutes of action. She was 6-of-9 shooting and collected five boards. Junior guard Kayla Thompson continued her excellent shooting as she was 3-of-5 from 3-point range en route to 13 points. Sophomore guard Rachel Steinbarger was the only other player in double figures in the game with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Indiana Wesleyan out rebounded Indiana Tech 32-26 and held the visitors to 38.5-percent shooting on the day.
Julie Stetzel scored nine points to lead Indiana Tech in scoring.
Indiana Wesleyan remains unbeaten this season and improves to 8-0 while Indiana Tech drops to 1-4.
The Wildcats will return to Mid-Central College Conference action in their next game which is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2 as IWU travels to play at No. 8-ranked Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana.
