IWU Men's Soccer NCCAA National Championship Tournament Bound

MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer will attempt to defend their 2008 championship as IWU scratched out a 1-0 win over Cedarville (Ohio) University on Saturday night in the NCCAA Midwest Regional Championship.

With the victory, the Wildcats earn an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament which will be held in Kissimmee, Florida on December 2-5. Last season, IWU defeated Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College 2-0 in the championship match to win the program's first ever national championship.

Indiana Wesleyan junior midfielder Austin Bock scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 30th minute of play. Sophomore forward Erik Johnson and sophomore defender Ross Tanzer were credited with assists on the game-winning goal.

Wildcat senior goalkeeper Spenser Lang earned his fifth shutout of the season. Lang made five saves to help IWU advance to the national tournament for the third consecutive season.

Cedarville ends their season at 11-6-3 while Indiana Wesleyan improves their record to 9-10-1.
