Box Score CANTON, Ohio -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball could not find its rhythm all game long as Malone (Ohio) University defeated the Wildcats 68-59 on Saturday afternoon in Canton, Ohio.
Indiana Wesleyan shot 36.7-percent (22 of 60) from the floor and only 16.7-percent (2 of 12) from deep. IWU only mustered 17 first half points and trailed 30-17 at the half.
Wildcat senior center Zach Coverstone did record a double-double to highlight the IWU performance. He scored 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds in addition to two blocked shots. The double-double is the third this season for Coverstone.
Freshman guard Aaron Martin came off the bench and had his third straight game with double digit scoring. Martin was 5-of-8 from the field for 12 points. Fellow freshman guard George Jones IV also came off the Wildcat bench to score nine points and pull down three boards.
Malone shot 51.2-percent (21 of 41) from the floor and made 22-of-28 (78.6-percent) from the free throw line. The Pioneers sported four players in double figures.
No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan is now 5-2 on the season while Malone evens their mark at 2-2.
Indiana Wesleyan will return home to Luckey Arena for the Mid-Central College Conference opener. IWU will host Goshen (Ind.) College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24. The game will feature Community Night as all Grant County residents will have free admittance to the contest.
