Box Score 2 UPLAND, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball earned a two match split on Friday night at the Trojan Challenge hosted by Taylor (Ind.) University in Upland, Indiana.
The Wildcats lost 3-0 to No. 7-ranked Columbia (Mo.) College but concluded the first day of competition with a 3-2 victory over Trinity Christian (Ill.) College.
Indiana Wesleyan lost to Columbia (29-2) by scores of 19-25, 9-25 and 17-25. IWU rebounded in their next match to defeat Trinity Christian (11-17) by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 13-25, 25-14, 15-9.
In the victory over Trinity Christian, Indiana Wesleyan senior outside hitter Kelli Ziegler racked up 20 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Kate Denlinger added 10 kills while freshman setter Yui Iwase passed out 34 assists. Junior defensive specialist Sarah Byrne contributed 11 digs and four service aces while junior libero Taryn Cocallas had a team best 13 digs.
Indiana Wesleyan (11-29) will complete the Trojan Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
