Box Score MARION, Ind. (Box Score) -- Three second half goals carried the Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over previously undefeated Grace (Ind.) College on Saturday afternoon during Homecoming.
IWU freshman forward Kylie Dial played an integral part in the Mid-Central College Conference win for the Wildcats over the Lancers. Dial scored the game-winning goal and assisted on the two other goals.
Following a scoreless first half of play, which Indiana Wesleyan held a 9-5 shots advantage, IWU came alive with a relentless offensive attack.
Dial knocked home the first goal in the 57th minute to break the scoring draught. Just over four minutes later, freshman forward Kelsey Johnston nailed home the second Wildcat goal with assists from junior midfielder Brittany Smith and Dial.
Junior forward Megan Marshall completed the scoring in the 72nd minute following a cross pass from Dial.
Indiana Wesleyan's second half domination led to a 12-4 advantage for IWU in shots, with nine of the Indiana Wesleyan shots on goal. IWU finished the match out-shooting Grace (10-1-0, 1-1-0 MCC) by a 21-9 advantage and 12-5 in shots on goal.
Wildcat junior goalkeeper Michaela Pride, making her first start of the season, earned the victory with two saves. Freshman Jamie Speidel made three saves in over 11 minutes to combine with Pride for the shutout.
Indiana Wesleyan (8-1-1, 2-0-0 MCC) will next play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 as the Wildcats travel to play MCC foe Bethel (Ind.) College in Mishawaka, Indiana.
