Box Score MARION, Ind. (Box Score) -- A Marian (Ind.) University loss earlier in the day combined with the Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer 7-0 victory over Goshen (Ind.) College on Tuesday night clinched a tie for the Mid-Central College Conference regular season championship for the Wildcats.
Both Indiana Wesleyan and Marian complete MCC play with 7-1-0 records. The regular season title is the 12th in program history and the 12th consecutive season the Wildcats have won either the MCC regular season or tournament championship.
With Indiana Wesleyan privy to the Marian score earlier in the day, Goshen (5-11-1, 0-7-1 MCC) provided little resistance in the IWU road to the title. Indiana Wesleyan scored four goals in the first 16 minutes of the match to cruise to the win.
It was also Senior Night at Wildcat Field and two of the four IWU seniors scored in Catherine Turner and Sarah Horsch.
Wildcat junior forward Megan Marshall scored a pair of goals while sophomore midfielder Kristin Perrine, freshman forward Kelsey Johnston and junior defender Kim Walton all scored as well.
Junior midfielder Brittany Smith also played a key role in the Indiana Wesleyan attack with three assists.
On the night, Indiana Wesleyan outshot Goshen 26-1. The only Maple Leaf shot came with less than 12 minutes in the match. Indiana Wesleyan nearly finished their second straight match without allowing their opponent a single shot.
Three Wildcat goalkeepers combined on the shutout. Freshman Beth Anne Nowak earns the win and junior Michaela Pride earned the only save.
Indiana Wesleyan (14-2-1) will return to the pitch at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 as the Wildcats host Bethel (Ind.) College in the MCC Tournament First Round.
