Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- No. 6-ranked Huntington (Ind.) University downed the No. 15-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball team 63-49 on Saturday afternoon in Huntington, Indiana.
Huntington doubled up on Indiana Wesleyan 32-16 in the first half to win the battle of ranked opponents.
The Foresters (11-3, 2-1 MCC) held a huge advantage at the free throw. Huntington was 18-of-23 (78.3-percent) from the line while Indiana Wesleyan was just 6-of-9 (66.7-percent). Huntington also held a 36-29 advantage on the boards.
Indiana Wesleyan (12-5, 1-2 MCC) was led in scoring by sophomore forward Elaine Hessel's 14 points. Sophomore guard Kayla Thompson was the only other Wildcat in double figures as she added 10 points and dished out a game-high six assists. Freshman Krystal Stoneking chipped in with seven points and a team best six rebounds off the bench.
Huntington's Lauren Davenport led all scorers with 18 points and Courtney Beerbower collected a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
Indiana Wesleyan will travel for their next game to Spring Arbor (Mich.) University. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9.
