Box Score 2 CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team split its two matches on Saturday to finish the Saint Xavier-Illinois Tech Crossover Tournament with an impressive 3-1 record.
The Wildcats dropped their only match of the tournament to No. 17-ranked Walsh (Ohio) University 3-1. Walsh earned the win by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-23.
Senior outside hitter Rebekah Reichard collected 12 kills and junior setter Kelli Ziegler passed out 21 assists. Freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Masuda contributed 17 digs and one service ace while senior middle hitter Jill MacMillan blocked three and a half Walsh kill attempts.
Indiana Wesleyan finished the tournament on a high note with a 3-0 victory over Lubbock Christian (Texas) University. IWU won the straight sets match with scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-22.
Reichard let the attack with 16 kills and a .405 hitting percentage. Masuda amassed 13 digs and three aces while Ziegler led the team with 18 assists.
"Our volleyball team has a passion of togetherness that is elevating our level of play," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats. "This weekend once again showed the passion of getting better because we're together."
Indiana Wesleyan has now won five of their last six matches to even their record at 5-5 on the season.
The Wildcats return to the court at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, as Indiana Wesleyan travels to play Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
