Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team was 1-1 on Saturday afternoon to complete the Indiana Tech Fall Classic as the runner-up.
The championship came down to the final match as No. 19-ranked Indiana Tech and No. 22-ranked Indiana Wesleyan both entered play unbeaten in their previous three matches.
The Warriors claimed the title of their own classic with a straight set victory of 25-15, 25-22, 32-30 over the Wildcats.
Junior opposite hitter Kelli Ziegler totaled 10 kills and 10 digs to lead IWU. Senior setter Christy Beam led the team with 14 assists while senior setter Krystin Coleman added nine assists and two service aces.
Indiana Wesleyan won their first match of the day 3-1 over University of Northwestern Ohio by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 18-25 and 25-22.
Senior outside hitter Rebekah Reichard had 14 kills, seven digs and two aces in the match. Ziegler contributed with 12 kills and 15 digs. Beam passed out 17 assists and freshman middle hitter Lauryn Barfell added five solo blocks and three block assists.
Reichard and sophomore libero Kelley Morris were named to the all-tournament team for their play during the weekend.
Indiana Wesleyan is now 13-9 this season and plays next at Grace (Ind.) College. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30.
