Box Score 2 HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team traveled to Huntington (Ind.) University on Tuesday and left with a 1-0 loss and a 9-1 victory.
The Wildcats (13-11, 6-2 MCC) were no-hit in the opening contest. Huntington (5-11, 3-5 MCC) scored the lone run of the game in the first inning and held on for the win behind the strong pitching performance.
IWU freshman Kate Hall also pitched extremely well in the loss. She went the distance and allowed the one run on seven hits.
Indiana Wesleyan responded in the second game 9-1 as the Wildcats earned a shortened six inning run rule victory.
Junior shortstop Morgan Wheeler was 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and four RBIs while senior right fielder Christi Church tallied three hits with a triple and two runs batted in. Sophomore third baseman Katie Berkemeier added a pair of hits in the winning effort.
Freshman pitcher Nicole Clark earned the complete game victory on the mound. She allowed four hits to warrant her fifth win of the season.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the field at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 as the Wildcat host University of Saint Francis (Ind.) in conference action.
