Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team pushed their win streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep over host Indiana Tech on Thursday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
IWU shutout the Warriors 3-0 in the opener and completed the sweep with a 6-5 win in eight innings.
Freshman Kate Hall led the victory over Indiana Tech (9-13) with a six-hit shutout. She struck out seven batters and also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Junior shortstop Morgan Wheeler was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Senior right fielder Christi Church also went 2-for-4 and crushed a home run. Senior second baseman Jeni Stansel led Indiana Wesleyan with three hits and sophomore first baseman Molly Yothment added a pair of hits.
The Wildcats (7-9) pulled out the 6-5 victory in eight innings in the nightcap with international tie-breaker rules in the extra inning.
Freshman pitcher Nicole Clark was the winning pitcher for Indiana Wesleyan. She struck out four.
Church, Wheeler and Yothment all hit 2-for-4 in the game. Senior left fielder Stephanie Linette roped a single in her lone at bat.
The Wildcats return to action at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 4 as Indiana Wesleyan travels to play Cedarville (Ohio) University in Cedarville, Ohio.
