Box Score 2 WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball claimed two victories over Grace (Ind.) College on Wednesday afternoon in Winona Lake, Indiana.
The Wildcats (5-9, 3-1 MCC) dominated play in the first game 6-0 and survived the second game with a 5-4 win despite five errors.
Freshman Kate Hall was stellar for Indiana Wesleyan in game one with a two-hit shutout. Hall was backed by potent offensive performances from junior shortstop Morgan Wheeler and senior right fielder Christi Church.
Wheeler was 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, a double and three runs batted in. Complimenting Wheeler at the plate was Church who went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.
Indiana Wesleyan overcame a lackluster game on defense in the nightcap to earn the doubleheader sweep over Grace (0-11, 0-2).
Church collected two more hits to pace the Wildcats. Senior second baseman Jeni Stansel and senior left fielder Stephanie Linette each rapped out a hit in the victory.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 as the Wildcats travel to play Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
