Box Score 2 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team earned a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday afternoon at Marian (Ind.) College in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The 6-1 and 5-3 wins came against the second place team in the NAIA Region VIII as Marian falls to 22-10 overall and 8-4 in the Mid-Central College Conference. Indiana Wesleyan evens their record at 15-15 for the season and 8-6 in conference play.
In the opening game, freshman Kate Hall led the Wildcats with a complete game. She allowed one run on seven hits. Sophomore third baseman Melissa Kimmel was 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in. Senior right fielder Christi Church chimed in with a pair of hits as IWU out-hit the Knights 11-7.
In the second game, junior shortstop Morgan Wheeler, Church and sophomore catcher Christy Gibson all raked two hits in the contest. Gibson had three RBIs to lead Indiana Wesleyan. The Wildcats out-hit the host 8-6.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 as the Wildcats host University of Saint Francis (Ind.). The first game will begin in the bottom of the second inning as the game was suspended last week due to rain.
