Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Pitching dominated the Indiana Wesleyan University softball day on Friday at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.
The Wildcats began the day with a 1-0 loss to University of Saint Francis (Ill.). The lone run crossed the plate on a passed ball.
Freshman Kate Hall pitched four innings and allowed one run on two hits. Senior Jenifer Stansel completed the game on the mound for IWU with two innings of no-hit ball. She struck out three batters.
Indiana Wesleyan scattered four hits at the plate with singles for sophomore Melissa Kimmel, Stansel, sophomore Christy Gibson and sophomore Molly Yothment.
Saint Francis improves to 7-3 on the season.
In the nightcap, the Wildcats found themselves on the positive side of a 1-0 contest as Indiana Wesleyan defeated Wartburg (Iowa) College.
Stansel pitched a gem for IWU. She threw a one-hit shutout and struck out seven batters. Stansel ended the day with nine scoreless innings pitched and allowed only one hit while striking out 10.
Wartburg is now 7-3 this year.
Indiana Wesleyan battle Rhode Island College at 11 a.m. and Heidelberg (Ohio) College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 in Kissimmee, Florida.
