Box Score MARION, Ind. (Box Score) -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer team returns to the Mid-Central College Conference championship match after a 3-0 shutout victory over Goshen (Ind.) College in the MCC Tournament semifinals on Saturday evening at Wildcat Field.
Last season, the Wildcats earned a 3-2 win over Goshen in the conference tournament championship.
Indiana Wesleyan captured the quick lead with a goal in the 12th minute of play. Mitch Lobdell assisted Joel Trainer for the eventual game-winner. The match remained 1-0 heading into halftime.
Kyle Joern added an unassisted goal for the Wildcats in the 62nd minute to push the IWU lead to 2-0. Trainer assisted Zach Grantham for an insurance goal in the 82nd minute as the Wildcats have now shutout their opponents in the first two MCC Tournament matches.
Spenser Lang and Andy Rdzok combined for the shutout in net for Indiana Wesleyan. Lang earned a bulk of the playing time while each keeper made one save.
Indiana Wesleyan out-shot the Maple Leafs 19-7 on the night.
Indiana Wesleyan will play the winner of Bethel (Ind.) College and Spring Arbor (Mich.) University. If Bethel wins, the Wildcats will play at Mishawaka, Indiana while IWU would host a match against Spring Arbor. The match is scheduled for Saturday, November 15.
