Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- Georgetown (Ky.) College defeated the Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball team 53-47 on the final day of the Huntington Classic in Huntington, Indiana.
The NAIA DII No. 8 Wildcats used a huge second half comeback attempt but fell short in the final minutes.
NAIA DI No. 18-ranked Georgetown (1-1) built a large 32-18 lead heading into halftime. But the Wildcats stormed back in the first 10 minutes of the second half, claiming a 40-39 lead. The Tigers answered and held on for the six point victory.
Indiana Wesleyan sophomore forward Elaine Hessel had a huge game for the Wildcats. She scored 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting and pulled down 13 boards. Freshman Krystal Stoneking was the only other Wildcat in double figures with 10 points.
IWU returns to the court next weekend as the Wildcats compete in the Viterbo (Wis.) University tournament.
