Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team captured the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament championship with a 4-0 shutout of top-seed Marian (Ind.) College on Saturday night in Indianapolis, Indiana.
En route to the championship, the Wildcats only surrendered one goal throughout the MCC Tournament. IWU racked up two tournament shutouts and have allowed just one goal in the last six matches.
Brittany Smith opened up the scoring with an Indiana Wesleyan goal in the 26th minute. Suzy Miesse added another goal just six minutes later as the Wildcats entered halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
Indiana Wesleyan repeated the feat in the second half with a pair of goals six minutes apart. Becca Mathews found the back of the net in the 67th minute and Megan Marshall scored in the 73rd minute to give IWU the 4-0 win.
The Wildcats out-shot the Knights 19-3 on the evening while Marian was denied a shot on goal.
The championship win pushes the Wildcat streak to 11 straight seasons with at least a MCC regular season and/or a MCC tournament crown.
Indiana Wesleyan clinches an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament with the victory. The Wildcats will play next Saturday, November 15. The NAIA will release pairings and home sites on Sunday night.
