Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team avenged their loss to Bethel (Ind.) College from just over a week ago with a 3-1 victory in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament semifinals on Thursday night in Mishawaka, Indiana.
The two teams battled in the regular season finale nine days earlier. The Pilots came away with the win to claim second place in the MCC and push the Wildcats to the third seed in the tournament.
This time around Indiana Wesleyan dominated in the first two sets before earning a four set win. IWU won by scores of 25-19, 25-11, 20-25 and 25-21.
Indiana Wesleyan used a .308 kill percentage as a team to earn a birth in the MCC championship match.
Seniors came through in the big match as senior outside hitter Rebekah Reichard earned team highs with 17 kills, 16 digs and two service aces. Senior setters Krystin Coleman and Christy Beam combined for 48 assists. Freshman middle Lauryn Barfell was a force at the net for Indiana Wesleyan with one solo block and five assists.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 26-14 this season while Bethel falls to 30-8.
Indiana Wesleyan will compete for their seventh consecutive MCC Tournament championship and an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament on Saturday, November 15 as the Wildcats travel to play top-seed Taylor (Ind.) University in Upland, Indiana.
