Goshen, IN (January 26, 2008) ? The NAIA No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan University women?s basketball team defeated Mid-Central College Conference opponent Goshen College 67-38 Saturday to end a four-game losing streak.
The Wildcats (19-4, 5-4) wasted little time in compiling a lead against the Maple Leafs (8-14, 2-7) as they began the game with a 16-2 run. Junior Kyra Pappas started the run with back-to-back buckets. Junior Andrea Fichter made three three-pointers during the run and senior Lisa Thompson added a lay-up and a free throw.
IWU went into halftime with a 26-11 lead. The Wildcats continued to dominate in the second half as they outscored Goshen 41-27.
Fichter finished with a game-high 19 points on seven-for-ten shooting, including five-of-six from behind the three-point line. Thompson added a double-double as she poured in 13 points and pulled down ten rebounds.
The only other Wildcat in double-figures was senior Brooke Amstutz with 11 points.
IWU is back in action Wednesday, January 30, at 7:00 p.m. as they go on the road to face MCC opponent Spring Arbor University.
