Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men?s basketball team left Fort Wayne, Indiana with an 84-80 overtime win over the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon in Mid-Central College Conference action.
Five Wildcats scored in double figures to lead a balanced IWU attack.
Junior guard Antonio Murrell led the Wildcats with 20 points while earning five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore center Zach Coverstone had a strong performance with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Junior guard Jon Moon added 13 points while sophomore guard Spencer Harris chipped in with 11 points. Freshman forward Will Hubertz finished the contest with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Indiana Wesleyan (14-6, 3-4 MCC) trailed 37-32 at the half, but used a strong start in the second half to gain the quick advantage. The Wildcats led by as many as eight points while leading most of the half.
Saint Francis (11-10, 2-6 MCC)was able to overcome Indiana Wesleyan?s early spurt and capture the lead late in the game.
Despite Indiana Wesleyan leading by four points with just over a minute in regulation, Saint Francis stormed back and took a 70-68 advantage as IWU called a timeout with 6.8 seconds on the clock. Murrell saved the Wildcats with a field goal as the buzzer to push the contest into extra time.
Indiana Wesleyan outscored the host Cougars 14-10 in overtime to escape with the 84-80 victory.
Saint Francis? Mike Steinau led all scorers with 37 points.
Indiana Wesleyan will return to the court at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, as the Wildcats travel across Grant County to play Taylor (Ind.) University.
