Wildcats Tie NAIA No. 8 Judson College

Box Score

Elgin, Ill. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men?s soccer team finished in a 2-2 tie after two overtimes with NAIA 8th-ranked Judson College in the final game of the Judson College Tourney.

Judson struck first in the 16th minute on a goal by Milos Bajic, but the Wildcats swung the momentum in their favor heading into the half with a goal of their own in the 43rd minute. Freshmen Mark Demchak and Kyle Joern hooked up to tie the score 1-1. The Judson goalkeeper attempted to intercept a cross from Demchak but only managed to tip the ball up in their where Joern was able to volley into the back of the net.

The Eagles? Steven Moldenhauer earned a red card in the 63rd minute for tackling Wildcats? freshman midfielder Mitch Lobdell. With the one-man advantage, IWU took the lead as Lobdell fed Demchak down the left flank where Demchak crossed the ball into the box. Senior midfielder David Lopez-Cepero got on the other end of the cross to head the ball inside the back post for the 2-1 advantage in the 82nd minute.

Judson pushed forward in the final minutes and Bajic was credited with his second goal in the 89th minute after a scramble in the box ended with the ball in the back of the IWU net. Playing two ten-minute overtimes neither team was able to take home the win.

?We were discouraged we didn?t get the win with the late lead,? said IWU head coach Mark Castro. ?But, hopefully, we can learn from our mistakes and come out on top next time.?

The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m. in their first home match of the 2007 season as they host Cornerstone University.
