Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Five Indiana Wesleyan University women?s basketball players scored in double figures as the Wildcats ran away with a 96-38 victory over visiting Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon in Luckey Arena.
Senior Brooke Amstutz (15), junior Andrea Fichter (15), freshman Elaine Hessel (14), senior Lisa Thompson (14) and freshman Kayla Thompson (12) led the balanced Wildcat attack as Indiana Wesleyan improves to 8-0 this season. IWU now has a 46-game win streak dating back to the beginning of last season.
Indiana Wesleyan led 12-10 seven minutes into the contest, but a 16-0 run by IWU blew the game wide open at 28-10. The Wildcats finished the first half with a 13-0 run to capture a 48-18 lead at intermission.
The beginning of the second half mirrored the conclusion of the first half as Indiana Wesleyan sprinted out of the gates with a 10-0 run to complete a run of 23 unanswered points over two halves. The Wildcats led 60-18.
Indiana Wesleyan built their advantage to 50 points at 74-24 with 11:34 left on the clock. The Wildcats earned their largest lead of the game at 96-36 before a Warriors? basket with 12 seconds left completed the scoring at 96-38.
The Wildcats shot 57.6-percent (34 of 59) in the contest and 50.0-percent (9 of 18) from deep. Indiana Wesleyan?s defense was just as dominating as the Wildcats forced the Warriors into 23.1-percent (12 of 52) shooting.
IWU out-rebounded Indiana Tech (0-9) by a 43-30 margin.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, as the Wildcats open Mid-Central College Conference action at home against Goshen (Ind.) College. This contest was originally schedule for Wednesday night, but a scheduling conflict forced the game to be moved to Tuesday night.
