Box Score OLATHE, Kan. -- No. 1-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University defeated No. 5-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University 75-68 in a clash of top-five NAIA Division II men?s basketball programs in Olathe, Kansas.
Wildcat sophomore Zach Coverstone recorded his second consecutive double-double with team-highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Will Hubertz added 16 points as he was 4-of-8 shooting from three-point range.
Also in double figure scoring for Indiana Wesleyan were junior Antonio Murrell with 14 points and sophomore Ryan Hetrick with 11 points.
Indiana Wesleyan shot 36.5-percent (23 of 63) from the floor and 36.0-percent (9 of 25) from beyond the arc.
The defending national champions were led by Adam Hepker?s double-double of 25 points and 10 assists. He was 16-of-16 from the free throw line.
The Wildcats only committed seven turnovers on the evening, but were out-rebounded by MidAmerica Nazarene by a 42-34 margin.
IWU ends their opening weekend with a 1-1 record as MidAmerica Nazarene improves to 2-0.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action on Friday, November 9, as the Wildcats host the Caleb Dimmich Memorial Tournament. Illinois Tech will face East-West (Ill.) University in the first game of the night at 6 p.m. and the Wildcats will battle IU-Northwest in the nightcap at 8 p.m.
