The Cougars of Spring Arbor hosted the Wildcats for their homecoming on a chilly and windy day. Indiana Wesleyan had more of the play at the beginning of the match and capitalized on a long throwin from Janelle Demchak with Megan Sweeney finishing the goal at the back post with almost 17 minutes gone in the first half. IWU could not add to the lead as they had possession more than Spring Arbor did for the rest of the half. Second half was a different story as the Cougars kept the Wildcats pinned in their defensive half of the pitch except for a few brief forays across midfield. Spring Arbor dominated the half but couldn't find the net. With 7:13 left on the clock, right midfielder Janelle Demchak sent a crossing pass to left midfielder Amy Hockersmith. This resulted in Hockersmith breaking in toward goal off the back side of the Cougar defense. Her left-footed shot hit the back post and bounced into the net. With Spring Arbor sending numbers forward, Carly Comerouski dribbled into the penalty area and shot far post. Becca Mathews made sure the ball was going in as she headed it at the back post into the back of the net. Spring Arbor and Indiana Wesleyan are tied for 1st place in the MCC with 6-1 records. The Wildcats finish the regular season Tuesday, Oct. 17th at 3 PM at Taylor University.
