Amber Osborn enters her 1st season on Coach Ethan Whaley’s staff at Indiana Wesleyan in 2017-18.
Prior to joining the Wildcat coaching staff, Osborn served as Coordinator of Scheduling & Events for PGC Basketball from 2015-16. From 2010-15, Osborn returned to her hometown of Clarks Summit, PA, as Assistant Athletic Director and Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Clarks Summit University. Before that, she was an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Rhode Island under her former head coach from Boston College. In 2008-09, she worked as Director of Player Development at Backcourt Hoops in Scranton, PA. She played overseas in Ribera, Sicily in 2007, and from 2004-06 she was an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Toledo.
In 2004, Osborn played at the next level where in the third round of the WNBA draft she was selected by the Minnesota Lynx. She played four years on the Minnesota Lynx, and in her fifth season she played for the Washington Mystics and Los Angeles Sparks.
Osborn played her college basketball career at Boston College where she started all but three games over the four years. In her junior season, her back-to-back game-winning shots in the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds were named as the third best moment of the NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s “Top Ten Tournament Moments” and landed BC in its first-ever Sweet Sixteen. As a senior she was named to the ALL-BIG EAST Second Team, All-Tournament Team and was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star. Her senior season, she lead Boston College to its first-ever BIG EAST Championship. She was a Kodak District One All-American, a Parade Honorable Mention All-American and was awarded the Boston College “Eagle of the Year” award. Osborn concluded her career at Boston College as BC’s 4th all-time leading scorer ... 5th on BC’s all-time assist board ... 6th on BC’s all-time steal board ... and 2nd on BC’s all-time three-point field goals made and attempted lists. She was invited to participate in the Annual College Slam Dunk and Three-Point Shooting contest at the Men’s Final Four in 2000 where she was crowned the women’s Three-Point Shooting Champion.
A four-year letter winner at Abington Heights High School from 1996-2000, she was a member of the teams that won the AAAA District 2 championship all four years and advanced to the Eastern Semifinals of the PIAA State Playoffs in her senior season. She finished her career with over 2,400 points, 600 assists, and 600 steals. At the conclusion of her high school career she was named a Parade All-American and was the inaugural Miss Pennsylvania Basketball.
Osborn’s basketball career honored her in various ways throughout the years. Her high school jersey (#23) was retired in February 2006. In October 2011, Osborn was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Athletic Club Hall of Fame. Lastly, in 2013, she was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Osborn and her husband David reside in Marion with their daughter Landyn.
