Assistant Track and Field Coach for Throws

Tim Schortgen works with IT and networking at Indiana Wesleyan University and joined the staff following a different route. Schortgen has had two sons both achieve tremendous success while throwing for IWU. Justin graduated in 2010 and his brother James followed in 2012. Both young men were NAIA national competitors with the Wildcats and Tim joined the coaching staff during their tenure.

Schortgen focuses on the Hammer and Javelin. He has already developed a tremendous amount of success and, along with Kyle Abney, is responsible for a culture of excellence and rapid improvement among the IWU throwers.

Schortgen and Jackson both have laser measuring devices for distance events and have worked a number of high caliber meets. They hire others to use their equipment for IWU meets, bringing the best of technology to our throwing events at home meets.

Tim is married to Paula and they have two children, both mentioned above as members of the IWU track and field family.
